Siddique Ahmed died on September 13, 2026. He was 63. The Indian National Congress leader from Assam had spent the better part of two decades inside the state's legislative assembly, representing the Karimganj South constituency, and he was there again when he fell ill.
Ahmed first won the Karimganj South seat in 2001. He held it through consecutive elections, serving as MLA from 2001 to 2016.
