Remo Calzona, the Italian civil engineer and university professor, died on September 25, 2026, at the age of 87. His passing was confirmed by colleagues at Sapienza University of Rome, where he spent much of his career. Calzona was born in Catanzaro on January 19, 1939.
He graduated from Sapienza in July 1964 with a degree in civil engineering. His thesis, supervised by Carlo Cestelli Guidi, focused on membrane analysis of doubly curved shells with a hyperbolic paraboloid middle surface.
