Moses Tay, the Singaporean Anglican bishop who led the church through nearly two decades of growth and change, died on September 24, 2026. He was 88 years old. Tay, also known as Moses Tay Leng Kong and Zheng Lingguang, was Singapore’s seventh bishop of the Anglican Church from 1982 until 2000.
In 1996, he became the first Archbishop of the Province of the Anglican Church in South East Asia, a post he held until his retirement four years later. Born in 1938, Tay studied medicine at the University of Singapore.
