Agni Deo Singh, the Fijian trade unionist who led the Fiji Teachers Union for more than two decades and later served as Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations, died on September 12, 2026. He was elected to Parliament in the 2022 election and sat in the coalition government that took office that year. Singh was born in rural Macuata, on the northern island of Vanua Levu.
He trained as a teacher at Corpus Christi Teachers College and later completed a diploma and a bachelor of arts at the University of the South Pacific. His classroom career took him to Kadavu, Nausori and Nasinu before he moved into trade union leadership.
