Bob Davenport, the folk singer who helped ignite the British folk revival in the early 1960s, died on September 28, 2026, at the age of 94. Born Robert H. Davenport in Gateshead, County Durham, on May 31, 1932, he was raised in a musical family.
His distant relation to George Ridley, the writer of “Blaydon Races,” was noted in his early life. Davenport’s first performances came during the Second World War when he was just a child.
