Ahmad Nategh-Nouri, a figure long woven into Iran’s political fabric, died on September 25, 2026. He was 89 years old. His life spanned nearly nine decades of Iran’s modern history, and his death marks the end of a political journey that included seven terms in parliament and a significant role in Iran’s sports administration.
Nategh-Nouri first entered the Iranian parliament in 1981 through a by-election, succeeding his brother, Abbasali Nategh-Nouri. He served in the first, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth Majles, representing the Noor and Mahmoudabad constituency.
