Simon Leis, a longtime public official who dedicated the majority of his life to serving Hamilton County, has died Saturday at age 92.
Family members of Leis confirmed the news to WLWT on Saturday morning.
Leis served as Hamilton County’s top law enforcement officer from 1987 to 2012. Before that, he was a common pleas judge from 1982 to 1987 and chief prosecutor from 1971 to 1982. A lifelong resident of Greater Cincinnati, he graduated from St. Xavier High School in 1952 and Xavier University in 1956.

He later earned a law degree from Salmon P. Chase College of Law after joining the U.S. Marine Corps.
The cause of Leis’s death remains unclear, with the family indicating they will release more details later this weekend. This developing story will be updated as WLWT learns more information.

A lifelong native of Greater Cincinnati, he is a 1952 alum of St. Xavier High School and 1956 alum of Xavier University. He later went on to obtain a law degree from Salmon P. Chase College of Law after enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps.
It was not immediately clear how Leis died, with the family saying that they intend to release more information later this weekend.
