Daniel Stewart, the former Port Adelaide forward, has died suddenly at the age of 37, a week before his 38th birthday. The Power confirmed his death on Saturday, October 24, 2026, saying the club was deeply saddened and that the news had come as a shock. No cause of death has been given.
From North Adelaide to the AFL
Born on October 30, 1988, Stewart came through South Australian football, playing for North Adelaide in the SANFL. His form there earned him a place on Port Adelaide’s list as pick No. 35 in the 2009 Rookie Draft, giving him a shot at the national competition with his home-state club.
Four seasons with the Power
Stewart made his AFL debut in 2010 and played 36 games across four seasons at Port Adelaide, kicking 31 goals as a forward. He was part of the Power’s list until the end of the 2013 season.
Tributes
Port Adelaide said it would honour Stewart by wearing black armbands at its first home game at Adelaide Oval in 2027.
