Pedro Antônio Marchetti Fedalto, who led the Archdiocese of Curitiba for more than three decades, died on September 26, 2026, at the age of 100. His death marks the end of a long chapter in Brazil’s Catholic history. Born on August 11, 1926, in Rondinha, Fedalto entered the priesthood before becoming a bishop.
His early years in the church led him to serve as auxiliary bishop of Curitiba from 1966 to 1970. In 1970, he was appointed archbishop of Curitiba, a role he held until his retirement in 2004.
