Hirokazu Ueyonabaru, the Japanese Paralympic athlete known for his long-distance prowess, died after a traffic collision on September 26, 2026. He was 55. Ueyonabaru was born in Okinawa in 1971.
He competed mainly in T52 classification events and represented Japan at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing. There, he won a silver medal in the men’s Marathon T52.
