Mirosław Różański was a Polish Lieutenant General, military commander, and senator whose career took him from platoon commander to the head of Poland's ground forces, and whose final public role as a national lawmaker and chair of the Senate's defence committee positioned him at the intersection of military expertise and democratic oversight at a moment when Polish security policy was among the most discussed in Europe. He died on 24 August 2026 at the age of 63 after disclosing publicly in his final months that he was battling multiple myeloma, a cancer of the blood plasma cells.
