Bruce Tull was an American guitarist who was best known as a member of the Scud Mountain Boys, the indie country and alternative country band from Northampton, Massachusetts, that built a devoted following in the American independent music scene of the 1990s through a combination of melancholy songwriting, atmospheric production, and the distinctive sound that combined traditional country music elements with the indie rock sensibility of the Northampton alternative music community. He died on 4 July 2026 at the age of 71.
He was born on 25 January 1955 and came to music through the guitar, one of the most versatile and widely played instruments in American popular music traditions from country and bluegrass through rock and roll and jazz.
