Hurricane Fly, one of Ireland’s most celebrated racehorses, died on September 22, 2026, at the age of 22. His passing was confirmed by those close to the horse’s team, ending a career that left a lasting mark on National Hunt racing. Foaled on April 5, 2004, Hurricane Fly was bred in France for flat racing but found his greatest success over jumps.
He initially raced in France, where he won twice in ten starts. In late 2007, he was sold and transferred to Ireland, where he was trained by Willie Mullins at Closutton in County Carlow.
