Nikolay Noev, the Yakut freestyle wrestler who competed for Tajikistan at the 2012 London Olympics, died on September 12, 2026. He was 38. Noev was born in February 1988 in the Sakha Republic, the vast federal subject in Russia's far east also known as Yakutia.
He was a Yakut freestyle wrestler who later took Tajikistani citizenship and competed under that flag on the international stage. His Olympic moment came in London in 2012, in the men's freestyle 55 kg event.
