Joan Blackman, the raven-haired actress known for her roles in Elvis Presley films Blue Hawaii and Kid Galahad, has passed away at the age of 87. She died on March 16 at a hospital in Santa Rosa, California, her son, Ngai Tarkington, revealed to The Hollywood Reporter.

Joan Blackman was born in San Francisco on May 17, 1938, to Frank, a musician, and Ivy, a homemaker. She took singing and dancing lessons and as a youngster performed on television, at military camps and hospitals, and with Ernie Heckscher's big band at the Fairmont Hotel.
