L.A. on the Fly: AEG and Archer Aviation Unveil Revolutionary Air Taxi Plans

Historic Partnership Aims to Revolutionize LA Transportation

AEG and Archer Aviation have announced a multiyear partnership to develop downtown LA's first "vertiport" for electric air taxis, marking a significant step towards transforming the city's transportation landscape. The vertiport, set to be built at the sports and entertainment district L.A. Live, will enable point-to-point travel in air taxis, cutting travel times and reducing emissions.

The air taxis, produced by Archer Aviation, will carry four passengers and reach speeds of up to 150 mph. According to the companies, the initial feasibility study for the site has been completed, including land-use and airspace reviews, power availability, and community impact assessments. The next phase, reviewing operational approach and guest experience, is underway.

Archer's Ambitious Plans for LA

Archer Aviation already has plans for its air taxi network to include SoFi Stadium, USC, LAX, Hollywood Burbank Airport, and spots in Santa Monica and Orange County. The company has acquired Hawthorne Airport as its central operational hub. As part of the partnership, Archer will be the exclusive air taxi partner of L.A. Live, offering a one-of-a-kind experience for fans and visitors.

"We are thrilled to pursue this endeavor with Archer to enhance the fan experience around the major sports and live-entertainment events we host," said Nick Baker, president and COO of AEG Global Partnerships. "This is an ambitious project and exactly the kind of forward-thinking collaboration that blends infrastructure and technology in service of our fans, visitors, and the broader community around major sports and live-entertainment events hosted at L.A. Live."

LA28 Olympics to Benefit from Innovative Air Taxi Network

Archer Aviation is also the official air taxi provider for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and Team USA. Downtown LA will serve as a central hub for 18 Olympic and Paralympic sports, with the air taxi network set to play a crucial role in transporting athletes, officials, and spectators. Archer founder and CEO Adam Goldstein sees this as a unique opportunity to add a flagship downtown location to its planned Los Angeles air taxi network ahead of the LA28 Games.

A New Era for LA Transportation

The development of the vertiport at L.A. Live marks a significant step towards transforming LA's transportation landscape. With the city's growing population and increasing traffic congestion, innovative solutions like electric air taxis are desperately needed. The partnership between AEG and Archer Aviation is a forward-thinking collaboration that could set a new standard for urban transportation.

The Midnight air taxi will be on display at L.A. Live through Tuesday, offering a glimpse into the future of transportation in LA. As the city prepares for the LA28 Olympics and the launch of the air taxi network, it will be exciting to see how this innovative technology shapes the transportation landscape of one of the world's most populous cities.
